Change a Child's Story 2015
Change a Child’s Story
is about creating new partnerships in the community and new relationships with struggling kids. In 2015, Trinity UMC Volunteers, from June – Dec. donated 198 hrs reading & gave 231 books to Head Start, Foster Care, and those who have parents participating in Community Action’s, Family Development and Self Sufficiency program. We also gave books to the drug court for a small adult and children’s lending library.

$178- Imagine No Malaria
The youth Sunday School classes had a busy year fundraising both within and outside of the congregation. They are now ready to let the congregation know how they’ve allocated their funds.
The 5th and 6th grade class raised $178 for Imagine No Malaria from people who do not attend Trinity.
The money that the children raised within the church from members, money they brought in themselves, and from the Outreach Committee was divided between three projects.
$100-Mobile United Methodist Missionaries
$100- Mobile United Methodist Missionaries is a ministry of the Iowa Conference of the United Methodist Church. They travel across southern Iowa helping rural and small congregations and communities with youth programs and Vacation Bible School.
$100-Mississippi United Methodist Choctaw Mission
$100 – Mississippi United Methodist Choctaw Mission. The mission provides a youth leadership camp at the Choctaw reservation in Mississippi.
$480 – Heifer International. We have been donating to Heifer for several years and this year the preschool and kindergarten class joined in as their introduction to mission and outreach. We “purchased” a pig, a llama, a sheep, bees, geese, ducks, and chicks.
Local Projects and a Big THANK YOU
In the first half of the school year the class focused on local projects with the food drive and they took 2 angels from the angel tree as a class. The missions are an important way they are demonstrating their faith locally, in Iowa, nationally, and globally.
They also say THANK YOU to everyone who helped them with their fundraising. Thank you to the Outreach Committee for helping stretch our dollars. You’ve all shown us how well we work together as members of Trinity and Methodists.
